Automatic Elliott Wave count (CycleSic)

How to read CycleSic's Elliott Wave indicator: chart labels, orange invalidation, purple targets, and the limits of automatic counting.

On this page

Who this is for — You just turned on Elliott Wave in CycleSic and want to understand what you are looking at in two minutes, without a full theory course.

This page explains the CycleSic tool. Classic Elliott theory (Frost & Prechter) deserves dedicated articles; here we keep the operational piece: what the engine draws and how to use it without self-deception.

In one sentence

The indicator looks for a live count on the right edge of the chart: impulse 1-2-3-4-5 and, if present, A-B-C correction. If it finds no valid recent count, it does not invent waves.

What you see on the chart

Element Color Meaning
Numbers 0 1 2 3 4 5 (and A B C) labels Pivots of the current count
Structure line green (Bull) / red (Bear) Connects the count pivots
Dashed orange line #fbbf24 Invalidation = Wave 1 price. If price breaks it, that count dies
Dashed purple lines #a78bfa Typical targets (e.g. W5 length of W1, W5 at Fib 0.618)

Card — First reading

  • 1. Read the stage in the panel ("In progress: wave 4", "Impulse 1-5", ...).
  • 2. Check direction: Bull or Bear.
  • 3. Note the orange line: it is the count stop, not your broker stop-loss.
  • 4. Purple lines are working levels: zones where W5 (or C) often reaches, not auto-orders.

Useful settings (if you are new)

Parameter What it does Tip
Cyclic pivot (DOM) Swing confirmation follows the dominant cycle Leave it on
Pivot bars How wide a swing must be to count Only if you turn DOM off: lower = more waves (noise), higher = fewer waves (larger degree)

What it is NOT

  • Not an automatic buy/sell signal.
  • Not the "only" possible Elliott reading: two analysts may disagree; the engine shows one live scenario with a score.
  • It will not revive week-old structures just because Fibonacci ratios look pretty.

Alerts (optional)

In the indicator sheet you can arm alerts on facts that already happened: impulse 1-5 complete, ABC complete, count invalidated. They help you leave the chart, not replace reading it.

  • In CycleSic: EMICICLO catalog → Elliott Wave → settings sheet (about + tips).
  • Classic Elliott theory: dedicated pages to come. This page stays the bridge between tool and theory.
